Yeah, you crazy. The AW11 and SW20 simply look a million times better. And from what I’ve heard, the Spyders are not nearly as much fun to drive as an AW11 or SW20 MR2. Get those spyders out of your head and start looking for that sweet sweet turbo SW20. Or the crazy hard-to-find supercharged AW11.

Doooo eeeeeeet.

The exterior looks to be in quite a rough shape (frunk dents, headlight yellowing), but the interior seems nice. Check Spyderchat, MR2ROC and MR2OC for information about the automated manual and its reliability (I’ve got a manual).

You can also use the ‘ears’ (those flaps at the rear of the folded down top) to haggle. They’re easily and cheaply fixed, but chances are that the seller doesn’t know that. Check the wheels as well, they’re prone to oxidation.

You’re correct about the looks, but the Spyders are the best handling of them all. They only weigh like 2100lbs + change. That 1ZZ engine has got to go though. 2ZZ or Honda swap it for some higher rev, more power NA goodness and you’ve got yourself a REALLY fun car.

I’m not sure I would want to pay this for one in this condition (hood), with those tires, with over 100k miles. I test-drove one, it’s a nice little car, with almost zero cargo space.
